Lilley Welcomes Thameslink Investment

- Wednesday, 22nd March 2017

The Department for Transport announced last week that works will start next month to improve rail infrastructure and resilience along the Thameslink rail network.

Network Rail is set to spend 100 million on works that will include replacing tracks and signalling, and reducing the risk of trespass and landslides along the route. They expect the works to result in up to 15% fewer delay minutes for passengers each year, by the time they are completed in December 2018. Train Operating Companies are helping to design a 'go-there-once' strategy in order to minimise disruption to passengers.

Peter said: "I welcome this investment to reduce some of the delays on the Thameslink line which have made travelling a nightmare for my constituents. It is important that the works themselves are planned to cause minimal delays while being implemented. So I welcome also the 'go there once only' strategy for carrying them out."
